Chebogue-Fort Lomeron

After Port Royal was destroyed, traders fled to then Theboc, now Chebogue, where they built a new fort and continued trading with the Mi’kmaq. Here, looking over the Chebogue River, we see the lands where Fort Lomeron is believed to have been located. In 1730, Acadian families settled near the former trading post and continued trading, prior to being deported in 1758.
